  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Scleroderma
  • Lupus

In addition, fitness enthusiasts may develop temporary bouts of the condition after extreme workouts. Illness, injury and extended exposure to UV light may trigger attacks. Those who abuse drugs, including alcohol and cocaine, are also more susceptible to developing Myositis. In some cases, the condition is genetic.

Living a healthy, balanced lifestyle can reduce your risk of developing Myositis.  In addition, avoiding over-exposure to sunlight and recreational drug use can reduce your risk.
